Initially, the series – inspired by the American series All In The Family, produced by CBS starting in 1971 – was written by Max Nunes and Roberto Freire and directed by Milton Gonçalves. In 1973, Paulo Afonso Grisolli took over as general director of the program and brought in Oduvaldo Vianna Filho and Armando Costa to adapt the series to the national reality.
